With the loss of most of the Irish census records, valuation records can serve as a substitute. Though these records can be accessed online, in-person records include marks and other information that cannot be found online.
EPIC: The Irish Immigration Museum has won numerous awards. It takes you through the decades of Irish immigrants and the diaspora.
A variety of records as far back as 1708 can be found at the registry of deeds.
Jeanie Johnston was the only Famine Ship to make it through the famine without any passengers dying. Enjoy this recreation museum that gives you an idea of what immigration during the Great Famine was like.
